Unbowed, undaunted, and unafraid we will fight for what is right: a country that respects the rights of everyone.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This legislation—hard-fought, hard-won—was nothing short of transformative for so many.

But ableism is still pervasive, inside the classroom and out. It is our duty to continue the fight for inclusion and accessibility.

It's about time.

The consequences of this cruel move have already been felt—programs canceled, new positions put on pause.

But concerned parents spoke out, educators called, lawmakers sent letters—and finally, schools will receive their funding.

The budget bill cuts Medicaid, slashes food stamps, eliminates school lunch—to give tax cuts to billionaires.

We must fight back, and tell our lawmakers to put #FamiliesFirst.

Today, 4 hedge fund managers on Wall St. earn more in a year than every kindergarten teacher in America combined.

Teachers: join us for a town hall tomorrow w/ leaders from the AFT & NEA to discuss the enormously important issue of raising teacher pay & saving public education.

Educators are skilled professionals. And they should be treated—and respected—as such.

I am proud to lead an organization that doesn’t shy away from complex and difficult issues.

Democracy can be messy, but NEA membership has shown time and again our dedication to hearing all voices as we work to determine the best path to creating the schools and communities our students deserve.

Tonight's vote is not an endorsement of the ADL’s full body of work. NEA calls on the ADL to:

1) Support the free speech and association rights of all students and educators.
2) Stop using language that disparages whole groups of educators.

This vote came after a thoughtful, thorough process following NEA rules, and the result demonstrates our commitment to centering our mission and our work. We also strongly reject the false, demeaning attacks that have been hurled at our hardworking members. Hate has no place here.

Our members are committed to ensuring our schools & campuses are safe and welcoming for all students, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or identity. We increased our efforts to combat all forms of hate because it is fundamental to who we are as educators and the core of who we are as a union.

Without equivocation, NEA stands strongly against antisemitism. We always have and we always will. Our Jewish students and educators deserve nothing less.
