Introducing Patrick the Fat Peasant. I suspect he has been hoovering bits of nuts and seeds from the squirrel feeder.

a 34-string harp in my office-cum-music room.

The harp and I and 4 friends went to a primary school yesterday to introduce 130 children to harp music. Some wolf-howling was also involved... and could probably have been heard several miles away!

That’s lovely. I hand wrote some song lyrics into my note book this morning and my handwriting was appalling. I blame too much keyboard use! I’m out of practice!

Excellent. My double snowdrops managed to be just open today. They usually hit Burns Night and haven't failed me this year either.

sorry - I haven't yet got used to Bluesky showing me posts without the preceding thread to give me context!

Those of my friends who know (and I hope love) my cartoon book One Fell Swoop will probably have bought its 88 A5-size piccies at the 3rd print run price of Β£5.00. It has sold out over the Christmas spell and I'm working on a 4th run. Costs have gone up so I'm looking at revising the price.
Β£7?
Β£8?

I was telling Graham that I’m playing my travel guitar for 20 minutes a day because I need to harden my fingertips to play comfortably. I wave my left hand at him for reference and he says, looking at my right, β€œWhat you need is one of those tiddlywinks thingies.”

I have more or less decided to call it "Thinking Space" rather than "opinions". I want solutions rather than whinges.

Having just written an opinion piece for the Fell Pony Society's Spring 2025 Magazine I am toying with the idea - as editor - of running a regular "opinions" slot in each issue. I wonder what the resulting offerings would be like...

Oh I agree. And in French it’s also a homophone so it’s a bit of a joke - lieues (leagues) sounds almost identical to lieux (places).
FWIW, I also originally thought the leagues were measured vertically like fathoms.

The original title was "20,000 lieues sous les mers" - "Twenty thousand leagues, beneath the seas". If he'd meant vertical depth he'd have written "au-dessous de la mer". (And I think even in Verne's time nobody thought the oceans were as deep as 20K leagues?)

isn't the 20,000 leagues the distance the Nautilus travelled under the sea, rather than the depth it went to?
But I agree, I often find myself on the side of the "thing" that's supposed to be the antagonist.

I'm not too sure what this is going to be like but -- willing to wait and see.
