Slide 2: a blue and red graphic with white text that reads: House Republicans have introduced a bill to effectively grant the federal government decision-making power over what books make it into the library. Misleadingly called the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act," H.R. 7661 is a national-level book banning bill that would ban any book that, according to the bill's language, "(ii) involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism." This means any book about a trans person or the trans experience would be banned from every public school in the United States.

It is egregiously unconstitutional, targets ideas based on ideological disapproval, and misleads parents and the public about the content of children's books. It does nothing to protect kids and will badly harm education. It will tie school material funding into knots and hurt anyone who is a library materials vendor, regardless of content. If you are a bookseller, librarian, or author, tell them your livelihood depends on the next generation of readers.

A digital drawing of author Maia Kobabe, a white nonbinary person with short brown hair wearing a patterned blue shirt, who scowls while holding up a copy of eir book GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR. Maia is saying: H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban my books, and any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps and say: NO ON H.R. 7661!

Larry Hama posted online, “I am getting messages from Comics Gaters claiming that the vast majority of my fans are in their ranks. If this is true, I truly regret the last 40 years of my work. And I have to question the clarity of my writing if so many misinterpreted what I had to say all these years.”

I used to tell people that if they hated what Hollywood was putting out, they had a lot more power than I thought they did. Hollywood’s whole raison d’etre is to entertain people, to give them what they want.

Now, though, these morons like Zaslav and Ellison either don’t know or don’t give a shit.

When you were a kid, did you ever meet another kid who was clearly out of their mind, and incredibly troubled and destructive, who made you really uncomfortable to be around, and you just hoped that they would grow up to… Not be like that?

And then they grew up to be even worse?

I hope all the DC staffers are doing OK despite another sale. This isn't new to them. It would be a real dumb move to screw with what's going on over there because there's a lot of people there making good art and SKUs retailers can sell.

Happy birthday to me and almost happy 4th birthday to Woubble!!

This year was hard. I spent most of it entirely reworking and rebuilding myself after one of the most intense depressive episodes of my life. I had to find myself as an artist and a person again and I’m proud of what I accomplished

There is just no metric (stylistically/aesthetically/mathematically/vibes) by which the same group of 10-20 mostly-white-guys, or the next crop of the same behind them, are the best/all that the comics medium has to offer.

But the big 2 keep pushing them on us, giving them the highest profile work

If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.
