"Was the earth made to preserve a few covetous, proud men to live at ease, and for them to bag and barn up the treasures of the Earth from others, that these may beg or starve in a fruitful land; or was it made to preserve all her children?" - Winstanley

They gutted the Washington Post. CBS. NYT. Now Teen Vogue.

The point isn't to bring in more conservatives. They've reached that saturation point.

They are killing the fourth estate and buying up the social media to control the messages we see. These were all targeted to disarm the left of truth.

Donald Trump is telling the Republicans to "get tougher."

Get tougher on who? The woman with malignant melanoma?

Because he sure as hell isn't getting tougher on the billionaires he invited to his Great Gatsby party.

that's a good point.

In truth, NY Dems are split. If/when Mamdani wins, it will help move things along. Cuomo/Jay Jacobs/etc will have lost some of their magic.

and then what? I'm involved w the Dems because I see no other sensible electoral path (i.e, not cuz they are my friends).

we may deserve it, but what good does that do?

Is there a way to get it? Something in the realm of possibility?

Powerful, amoral actors are always going to be a tough out, no matter the electoral/political system.

it's that way in a lot of blue places ... if you have to be a Dem to win, then, guess what, all the big muckety-mucks are Dems.

The cure for it is an activated, engaged D voter base.

Is it really amazing though? These people's whole life has been about staying in power via whatever means available. So they take advantage of whatever rules allow them to do that.

Well, you don't have to buy it.

I don't think the evidence, as much as I know of it, supports him being a Nazi. But I don't vote in Maine, so who cares what I think.

The question is, what do ME voters think?

He seems to have bought into a certain kind of bro culture in the military that includes skull tattoos & so on.

His reddit history doesn't support him being a Nazi.

It's interesting & could be concerning that he didn't get rid of it when he figured it out as an older person.

The OP expressed frustration about not knowing Platner's views over the years.

Some of those views are expressed in Reddit comments quoted in that article.

The tattoo is another thing. It seems quite possible he didn't know what it was for years (I would not recognize it as a Nazi symbol). ⬇️

Documents Shed Light on Cuomo's Five-Year-Old Donor A child’s donation highlights New York's City's straw donor headaches.

NEW: Five days after Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral campaign accepted a maximum $2,100 donation from Rabbi Marc Schneier in March, the campaign accepted a far more unusual gift: $250 from the rabbi’s five-year-old son.

You’re Being Lied to About Graham Platner We read Graham Platner’s whole Reddit archive. The vilification of the Maine candidate for Senate doesn’t square with what he actually wrote in his posts.

This article goes thru some of his reddit comments.

He seems to have had an evolution.

It would be nice if the entire archive was available.

I mean, he's right. Cuomo is ridiculous -

-He doesn't live in NYC.
-He was governor. Mayor is a step down.
-His whole political shtick is designed to win on LI & similar places.
-Dems are predominantly women. Cuomo is a serial harasser.
-He disempowered NYC Dems as gov.

He stinks.

I do love the attacks that Mamdani is too privileged to be mayor when his opponent just made $5 million "consulting" for undisclosed clients and the city was not too long ago run by a billionaire that weekended at his island getaway for years while serving.

"More antiFa than anything" was in reference to his Reddit comments.

Meaning that his Reddit posts do not support his being a Nazi (aka proFa).

I imagine a lot of people worked for Blackwater. He worked there for six months? Seems like an insubstantial criticism. Do you know what he did there?

It was a job. A lot of people have worked for questionable companies.

That is not the same as organizing & leading a white supremacist group. It just isn't.

You don't have to like Platner. He has issues on his record. But afaik he did not lead a white supremacist group. He's not like Byrd.

Well let's hope so.

Get those votes out.

Beating Cuomo will be a beautiful thing. This guy has name recognition, money, big media, the muckety-mucks, all the advantages.

Enlisting in the military & working for Blackwater are not the same as organizing & leading a KKK chapter.

I mean, a lot of people have enlisted, done multiple tours. Is that bad? The military is a big part or our culture, like it as not. Various elected Dems have done multiple tours.

Andrew Cuomo is a bad man pulling on a dangerous thread because he wants to win a job he doesn’t actually want to do in a place he hates

The OP here makes a comparison of his situation to Robert Byrd's.

I don't think it's a very good one.

There's other things you can say about the tattoo, sure. Go for it.

But I don't think we can say Platner was a white supremacist organizer, as Byrd definitely was.

I don't vote there.
