Firefox 136 stable has added hardware-accelerated HEVC decoding on Mac OS! 🔥 Fragmented browser support for HEVC has been a major barrier to adoption, even with just HEVC decoding. Excited to see HEVC extended to Linux in the upcoming 137 release too.

Discord has just added Animated AVIF support in the canary release of Discord!

Why can't Apple provide performant WebP decoding on iOS through ImageIO? I'm truly appalled at how badly ImageIO handles animated WebP playback compared to libwebp, specifically how slow the individual frame decodes happen. Hardly a problem on Android. #webp #ios #android
