"At least I wonโ€™t fuck up my kid the same way my parents fucked me up,โ€ I say as I fuck it up in some whole new, unforseen different way.

Coming up with new ways to fuck up our kids is like the parent Olympic sport. I don't know of anyone who gets it right 100% of the time.

Incantation for Peace & Release
I lay down the noise.
I unhook the claws of urgency from my ribs.
I loosen the tight fist of what-if,
of should-have,
of never-enough.
I call my breath back home.
Inhale โ€” I gather myself.
Exhale โ€” I release what is not mine.
Stress, you have tried to protect me.
Thank you.
You may rest now.
I am not prey.
I am not behind.
I am not in danger.
The earth beneath me is steady.
The air around me is kind.
My body is allowed to soften.
I release the stories that scrape.
I release the future rehearsals.
I release the invisible battles.
Peace is not earned.
Peace is remembered.
I choose stillness over spiraling.
I choose quiet over proving.
I choose presence over panic.
Let my shoulders fall.
Let my jaw unclench.
Let my heart return to its natural tempo.
What is meant for me will not require my suffering.
What is leaving was never meant to stay.
I am safe enough for this moment.
This moment is enough.
And so I breathe.
And so I release.
And so it is.

By 'changes' I mean 'improves' by the way. For the reasons you list below, there is no clear map to actually improve what children experience. I do recognise that this whole situation is incredibly hard. And I hope I'm wrong.

As ever you have voiced just what I was worrying about - and put it so clearly. I fear that the most likely outcome is that not much actually changes.

The Oar in the Sand

He sailed to wherever the sirens were,
surviving by lashing himself to the mast.
An image of stalwart resistance, or weakness.
And the singers mere angels.
And heaven only desire, simply the illegal.
Sailed into the not-quite world.
Or returned home to slay the suitors
who had been feasting there for years.
What about afterwards? We never talk
of that. What if he goes on looking?
What if there is no place to go?

Reminded, today, of this late poem by Linda Gregg

We kan leave thy friendes behinde
For thy friendes daunse not

Then no friendes thei are of myne
Ich saye, we kan wende wher it plese us,

And we can act lyke we come from Brocรฉliande
Leave the real worlde far behinde

That's a wrap on another Olympics! Women athletes owned these Games: Alysa Liu, Breezy Johnson, Hilary Knight to name a few!

And there's one woman, from 100 years ago, who is the real reason women are here. She was written out of history and buried in an unmarked grave. This is a ๐Ÿงต about her!

I told you it would make a comeback as we saw declining attention.

Scaffolding disguised as support in a really interesting take, because actually heโ€™s right. In too many instances itโ€™s not because the pupils canโ€™t 1/n
