Alison being under half and tournament level FJs argue in favor of 0, but the wild card slot argues in favor of all.

Because of you do this and the other person in the lead is right and bet anything more than zero, you lose even if you were right. It’s betting, and most contestants’ instincts are to bet on themselves. In this case it’s also A right move (zero is also A right move just not the only one).

There are consecutive games because otherwise pitching is extremely different rather than just different - traditionally starters pitch every fifth day (roughly) and it can be shorter but they’re less good when it is. Putting games close together is how baseball emphasizes team play and depth.
