New illustration – Bastion House and The Museum of London designed by Powell & Moya. Extremely complex site bordered by Grade I ancient ruins, Grade II Ironmorger Hall and busy roads. Locals and C20 Society are fighting to save the buildings for adaptive reuse.

Marsham Towers designed by Eric Bedford, 1971. Described as "the very image of faceless bureaucracy" by Pevsner and called Three Ugly Sisters by the public. Demolished in 2003.

Natwest Tower in Birmingham by John Madin, 1974. It was occupied for only 29 years, then stood empty, bar a few peregrine falcons, for more than a decade. It got replaced by a glass clad 103 Colmore Row. What a waste!

New illustration! Castle Market in Sheffield was a brilliant structure that housed everything from offices and shops to multiple floors of market stalls and cafes. Designed by Andrew Darbyshire, it was built in stages between 1959 and 1965. It was demolished in 2015.

The Laboratory in Clerkenwell, designed by Stanley Hall and Easton and Robertson. Opened in 1938 as labs and offices of New River water company. Managed to get inside with a C20 Society tour!
