Edinburgh Fringe Review: The Little Prince at Pleasance Courtyard
"a moving and creative piece of theatre that does the book more than justice.”
A theatre poster featuring 5 people gathered round one man who is reading a newpaper. From left to right a woman in an orange jumper with short black hair. a ginger man with a beard whose outfit is hidden by the newspaper. a woman in a lime green jumper. a black man looking out to camera, holding a newspaper which reads "kool story bro on uk tour" on the front page. He is wearing a dark green bomber jacket, a red tie and olive green trousers. A tall man with brown hair peering over the previous man's head. A woman with long curly hair wearing a bright blue wool blazer. Text in the top right reads "kiell smith-bynoe & friends: kool story bro. 15 - 22 aug, pleasance". In the bottom left is a logo for berks nest and the text "edinburgh fringe 2025"
Kool Story Bro is at Pleasance Courtyard from 15-22 August and features the one and only Kiell Smith-Bynoe plus some of his very funny friends. An improv show that will definitely change every night with a new surprise guest.

A theatre poster featuring three people stood behind each other facing the camera and one person crouched in front of them. The background is an industrial kitchen. Text in the top right reads "simple town, 11-24 aug, pleasance". Text in the bottom left has a logo for Berks Nest and says "edinburgh fringe 2025"
Simple Town is at Pleasance Courtyard from 11th - 24th. All the way from the USA a sketch show from a group that I was told "has had a few viral videos". Promises to be funny.

A theatre poster featuring 3 images of the same man imposed over the top of each other. In 2 of the images he has his arms in the air and appears to be falling. In the third central image he is still but looking into the distance. Text in the top left corner reads "3:50pm 18-24th" text in the bottom middle reads "ad infinitum presents Last Rites" above that text to the left is a yellow logo for pleasance courtyard venues and above to the right is a pink logo for the here and now showcase.
Last Rites will be at Pleasance Courtyard for the last week of Fringe as part of the Here & Now showcase. Having toured with it earlier this year it still makes me laugh and cry every show. Cleverest physical storytelling I've seen.

A theatre poster showing a blonde white man wearing a green scarf, and pilot goggles pushed up onto his head. He is looking up and smiling. Text in the top left reads The Little Prince but the I in prince has been replaced by a tall crown. In the bottom left text reads "12 noon, 30 july - 25 august". Beneath it is a logo for pleasance courtyard venue.
The Little Prince will be in Pleasance Courtyard for the whole month. It's a real gem of a show and will make you feel very warm inside. At midday it's a perfect hangover cure, gentle and not too early but very whimsical and joyful.

Bottom left is 3 multicoloured images of the same man over the top of each other, he is moving. This is titled Last Rites. Bottom right is 3 people stood behind each other looking at the camera and a 4th person crouched in front. They are all wearing light coloured t shirts and appear to be in an industrial kitchen. Browsing the Fringe brochure and playing my favourite game of:
Is this site specific listing actually site specific or is it just:
A) outdoors
B) in a church
C) not in a traditional theatre
D) underground
(All of which are cool, just not necessarily site specific)
That's insane, how did that even happen?? At what point did they think oh yeah we should get back to them
27.05.2025 22:50 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The bar is low, for small freelance gigs people rarely want feedback on why just to know whether or not they need to look for other work. Balancing dates is hard enough without keeping things free for a job that has already rejected you but not let you know.
27.05.2025 13:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The sheer number of times I have applied/interviewed for a role and had to assume I haven't got it when the start date of the project passes.
Even worse I've had companies approach me asking for CV & A/V and then never hear despite promising to reply within a week.
Ad Infinitum’s acclaimed production Last Rites will take to the main stage at Bristol Old Vic

A picture of a book shop with wooden floors and floor to ceiling shelves. All the books look aged and most are hardback. Brown paper tags sit on the front of shelves labelling the genres.
A narrow tarmac path proceeds away from the camera with a grassy verge on either side of it. This sits above the sea which looks choppy. The sky is overcast and along the horizon there are sand dunes which the path leads towards.
Today's lunchtime finish meant a visit to a vintage book store and a walk along a very windy coastal path. Big thumbs up for St Helens

A tall glass containing a milkshake topped with whipped cream, a flake and a red and white paper straw.
Finishing school shows at lunchtime means a little wander around the village for me, complete with extraordinary vanilla milkshake. Brighstone is beautiful.

A golden retriever lies on its side on some grass. The arm of the photographer reaches out from behind the camera and is resting on the dog's back. The dog has its eyes closed and one paw slightly up in the air.
I haven't been working for the past 2 weeks and it has allowed me some gorgeous restful moments which were well needed. This was the highlight of yesterday.
10.03.2025 10:29 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Shout out to my 2 favourite companies: Black+Blum and Sennheiser, for making products to be long lasting & letting you buy replacement bits rather than having to buy the item all over again. Also they're really high quality & work super well for a busy Stage Manager. I am not sponsored (wish I was).
21.02.2025 13:06 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 1A photo of a stage play taken from a tech box. In the forefront of the photo you can see a sound panel and the top of a lighting desk. These frame a window throufh which you can see the back of some people's heads in darkness. They are watching a man in white standing on a white floor with dark lines drawn on it. He has his hands on his head in surprise. Behind him on the left is an L shaped blue cabinet with white doors. To the right a silver structure with white orbs on it.
Had a great time at Hat Factory Arts in Luton with The Little Prince. Our first new venue and it was fab. Lovely audiences, and convenientally a plane workshop before hand!

17.02.2025 20:35 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A photograph of a play. On the left a man kneels behind a cabinet staring at an illuminated globe that looks like the earth. Further along the cabinet, to the right of the photo are a small plant pot with a flower, an artist's caddy, an angle poise lamp and two plain illuminated globes. In the background some lines of light break up the darkness.
Back at the Egg with The Little Prince before we head off to Luton & Cambridge. It's a real treat to get to do this show again, it's magical every time.

10.02.2025 00:14 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A leg in black trousers is resting on a white chair with a white ice pack sitting just below the knee. The photo is taken by the person whose leg it is. Behind the leg is a small silver case and a gel frame, suggesting a theatre location.
A photo of a bare leg with a large purple bruise covering most of the shin. Red plaid trousers have been rolled up to show the leg and the person is wearing light blue socks. They are standing on a carpeted floor. The bruise is large at the top, roughly hand sized and in the middle has a dark red patch where the skin has split. The bruising continues down towards the ankle.

Hello south west network. Chalk Line Theatre, who I have had the honour of working with and so can testify to their excellence, are bringing their new show to Bristol Old Vic in July. It would be foolish to miss it and I'll be there. You can join me and book too: bristololdvic.org.uk/whats-on/the...
