V Praze se uskutečnil kick-off meeting projektu Erasmus+ SHARITAGE. Náš ústav je jedním z hlavních partnerů vedených Univerzitou Würzburg. Cílem projektu je využít digitální metody k propojení archeologů, univerzit a místních komunit a současně tyto poznatky přenést i do univerzitní výuky.

Great to see our colleagues from @unikarlova.cuni.cz joining the fieldwork at Tel Eter.
This project sheds light on the everyday life and agricultural landscapes of the Judean Shephelah—beyond the big fortified centers.

Naši studenti 1. ročníku bakalářského studia archeologie dnes zahájili terénní výzkum na raně středověkém blatném hradišti Kozly.

První den se studenti učili vzorkovat a popisovat půdní profil.

Our first-year BA students began working at the early medieval site of Kozly – a marshland settlement once encircled by the Elbe River. I showed them how to describe soil profiles, determine soil colours, take samples. Today, they open their first trenches.

Have you ever thought about the fact that writing is not just words and thoughts? That what is written down goes hand in hand with what we write on? Our choice of writing medium—clay, papyrus, parchment—can reveal who we adopted a writing technology from, or who taught it to us.

It focuses on a medieval estate near the Cistercian monastery in Plasy. The findings reveal that soils impacted by historical agriculture show unique isotopic signatures that can differentiate between crop cultivation and livestock grazing.
