And to close this wonderful seminar, Dr Maria Jesus López Sánchez-Vizcaíno shares her research on the ‘migrant turn’ with her paper “‘Look at them leaving in droves’: African migration in NoViolet Buñawayo’s We Need New Names and Diane Mengestu’s Someone Like Us”.

We continue with Dr Esther Pujolras and her analysis on how transnationalism shapes the Indian Ocean in her paper “Ectopic Insiders and the Transnational Imaginary: M. G. Vassanji’s And Home Was Kariakoo and Michael Ondaatje’s Running in the Family”.

We start with Dr Barbara Korte, from the University of Freiburg, talking about the British Empire in Victorian periodicals: “Imperial Cities in Victorian Popular Magazines: Real Travel and Armchair Travel”.
