Heading to London for two weeks to workshop Piece of My Heart. Thrilled to return to it after all these years (it was produced off Broadway in 2015), and blown away (at least on paper) by the cast assembled. If anyone has any London recs, please share them with me. What a way to start the new year!

The best. I taught Bette and Boo this year and my students flipped for it.

He was so disarming and accessible, funny and warm, spontaneous and collaborative. It was during COVID, so it was mostly on zoom, but once, when I was in LA, I went to his home to meet him and Michelle in person and give him a hug. They were wonderful. It's so heartbreaking.

Like everyone, I love Rob Reiner's movies. Growing up, I saw all of them multiple times on the big screen. As different as they are, they all have a human touch that is uniquely his. I got to know Rob a little bit, developing a television idea, and I felt that human touch immediately...

The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.

It has been a labor of love - she has learned more than we ever could have dreamed. If you happen to be in midtown, or even if you aren't, I encourage you to come check it out. I think it is going to be very special, and I'm not just saying that as a proud father.

She then figured out how to make it a reality - leading a collective of over 100 students and connecting with various non profits to pair the students with the responders. She raised money, found a venue, devised a program, wrote a speech, interviewed a responder and made a powerful painting.

There is also a presentation on the MainStage with students reading their work and some special guests including first responders. Tess had this idea in the spring, and through Projekt NYC, applied and received a grant from AmeriCorps - one of only 50 given to students in the country.

Come check it out. This is Tess's brainchild and she has been working hard on it all summer. I think it's going to be a very special exhibit.

Isabel Goldfarb. Bronx Science class of 2025. University of Chicago class of 2029. What an inspiring afternoon, what an amazing school, and what an amazing kid. So proud of her and so excited for what's next. To quote Andrew Lo (class of '77), today's keynote speaker: Believing is seeing!

An amazing Father's Day dinner with my beautiful family at Ci Siamo, which we love, ending a wonderful day, which included beautiful cards and gifts from the girls and even Isabel coming to yoga with me. (Marianna took the photo.)

playbill.com/article/tony... So sad to read of the passing of Bill Finn. I was his assistant for about six weeks (he says 5 minutes) my second year at Juilliard. I typed A New Brain.
