It took a while, and was complicated, but we have finally got rid of our Croatian registered car and now have a beautiful new Spanish registered car. Another thing ticked off the list, towards us becoming fully integrated :)

We think we might FINALLY have made a decision about the tiles for the ground floor. It's taken forever to whittle down some beautiful designs, but we just kept coming back to these. It's a big decision as we can't just change our minds if we don't like them, so fingers crossed they work out...

Demolition progress.

The opening has been created for the black crittal doors which will open into the internal courtyard. The wall into the kitchen has also been demolished. A big L-shaped, open plan space has now been created, with this lovely courtyard in the middle.

Kitchen #design sketches. I’m no artist (or architect!), so will be interesting to see how the kitchen actually turns out. Can see it in my head, but difficult to convey in any kind of plan.

Tonight, we made charred padron peppers. I’ve always thought #padronpeppers, because they taste SO amazing, were made using magic.

They’re not.

Olive oil, pepper, garlic salt & chilli flakes. 20 mins in the airfryer. That’s where the magic happens.

#Airfryer present coming into its own. Have never considered one of these before, but we had vouchers & so decided to give one a go. Arrived yesterday - and I don’t how we cooked before!

So far, with 100% results - chips, marinaded fish fillets & smoky bacon & eggs. All in airfryer. 👌

Once again, agree 100%. Matera is just off the scale - beautiful, magical, mysterious, evoking the past. Secrets around every corner. Love this remote town.

If anyone knows of a more delicious #oliveoil #torta than this one by #inesrosales, then I’d like to know about it. These impossibly light, crispy & flaky crackers, wrapped in delicate wax paper, are truly delicious. A real #Spanish speciality, from #Seville, still made in the traditional way.

This baked #Catalan (or #basque) #cheesecake was the most delicious I have ever tasted. Bought in an amazing bread/cake shop in #porec in #istria called #breadpoint. A #Spanish style baked cheesecake with a burnt exterior, a crème caramel flavour and a creamy but light centre. Absolutely heavenly.
