Thought you'd like to see it! A satisfying number of Scottish writers in the crime section but face out and a review tag is extra special 😊

You can see Doug talking about Tombstoning tonight at @portybooks.bsky.social in person or via livestream (www.theportobellobookshop.com/events/doug-...).
And while you're waiting for your book to arrive (orendabooks.co.uk/product/tomb...) you can read my review 😁

I get very little bookpost these days (other than for specific reasons), so it's a real treat to have this new one from Stuart MacBride tumble through the letterbox 😊 Thanks to @laurasherlock21.bsky.social and @panmacmillan.bsky.social for thinking of me!

If you haven't read The Wasp Factory and are an ebook reader, grab this deal! It's a terrific, dark, sneaky book that's definitely crime-adjacent imho. An absolute classic of modern Scottish literature.

Nice and easy to remember the floor plan! The cafe opened after I moved but I've been a few times with a friend, it's nice. I lived on Milton st, at the edge of the park 😁

I did but it's unnerving reading about places you've lived - I've been to Callie's local cafe a few times, I used to live five minutes away!

It's a great read; I spotted some clues but didn't figure out the full picture, it was a powerful reveal.

Cover of The Night Watcher by Tariq Ashkanani, yellow and white lettering on an image combining Edinburgh castle and a figure walking down a darkened street.
Recent reads #3 - The Night Watcher by @tariqashkanani.bsky.social Set in Edinburgh (inc lots of places I've lived!); Callie is a great character (love the intro to both sides of her), &overall a pacy, entertaining read from the @bloodyscotland.bsky.social debut and McIlvanney winner.

Cover of To The Shades Descend by Allan Gaw; red and white lettering over a red-tinted silhouette image of two figures on a rainy city street.
Recent reads #2 - To The Shades Descend by @allangaw.bsky.social the third in this series from the @bloodyscotland.bsky.social debut winner and it's another gem. Cuthbert in Glasgow deals with a bombing of a political rally &much more. AG is a wonderful user of nuance in people & plot.
