You might've already done this, but, try using a q-tip and holding it on the spot for a bit. It doesn't prevent everything but I find that helps a lot!

Its because hair dressers, especially ones that are by appointment, often get people who cancel, and thats a time slot where they're not making money.

There was also a trend of people purposefully making appointments just to cancel because they thought it was funny to waste the stylists' time.
