The NOT team expresses its sincere condolences on the passing of Prof. Francisco Sánchez, founder of @iacastrofisica.bsky.social.

His vision and determination were instrumental in establishing the Canary Islands as a world-class site for astronomy, where the NOT has proudly stood since 1989.

🔭 Data from ex-NOT students Zuri Gray & Grigori Fedorets, now at @helsinki.fi helped refine its orbit—dropping impact odds from 3% to 0.001%.

🌕 It’s more likely to hit the Moon now—4%!
