Added more coins to my collection of historical currency of the Israel/Palestine. Today we added Israeli currencies from the 1970 which includes the Israeli Pound (Lira).

Further, one can still be a Zionist while recognizing history as it unfolded. But unless you truly recognize the history and the positive AND negative aspects associated with it in kind, you are nothing more than a talking head.
It's time to stop pushing the half truths of propaganda.

Even the earliest of the Zionist leaders included Herzl, Asher Ginsberg, Weizman and others recognized that there were people living there who claim that land. This is why I say to ignore the historical ties of Palestinians to the land is intellectually dishonest and it displays ignorance to history

To simply claim "it was the Ottoman Empire, not Palestine" ignores that the region was colloquially referred to as Palestine. It also implies that one should overlook the people who had lived in that region for several hundreds of years and had their own customs, traditions, and community structure.

The insistence of the "pro-Israel" crowd to actively erase the history of the Palestinians indicates high levels of polarization and intellectual dishonesty. This is why they aren't taken seriously and do a disservice to their cause and the boader cause of peace.

A nice collection of coins from the periods of the Ottoman Empire and the British Mandate in Palestine.

It was the Ottoman Empire yes, but the region known as Palestine (kinda like how we use the term "New England" ) was still a thing. It wasn't a state, but the region was still a thing. Broken down into Vilyets and Sanjaks.

This map was made in 1835 by the British Palestine Exploration fund.

So cool to add a piece of Ottoman history to my display. This is one Piastre, or a Kurush, that was the currency of Ottoman Palestine before the introduction of the British Mandate Palestine Pound post WWI.
