The Constitution makes it clear that only Congress can declare war, but President Trump seems to think that doesn't apply to him.
Tell Congress to stop his unconstitutional war with Iran before more people are killed.

Nurul Amin Shah Alam should be alive.
DHS agents released Mr. Shah Alam outside a closed coffee shop on a freezing night with no money, no phone, and no interpreter. From arrest to abandonment, the system treated his disability, language barriers, and refugee status as someone elseβs problem.
If the state proposals around so-called "buffer zones" had been enacted during the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, they could have stopped marches from taking place, severely limiting the scale + impact of the movement.
NY should not support efforts that would stifle free speech. Take action:
More than a decade after stop-and-frisk was ruled unconstitutional, the NYPD is *still* acting like NYC is a constitution-free zone.
Unlawful stops and searches violate NYersβ rights and undermine public safety. It's long past time to end these practices - Mayor Mamdani must ensure it's done.
These proposals hand the NYPD β a department famous for its history of biased and aggressive policing β sweeping discretion to declare protest-free zones, determine their duration, and decide who is subject to arrest.
Such broad police power is a recipe for misconduct and abuse.
This weekend, Nassau County residents rallied from Valley Stream to Merrick to say loud and proud: We must do more to protect New Yorkβs immigrant communities.

NY law already protects people from obstruction, intimidation, interference, violence or threatening behavior when entering or leaving a house of worship.
New proposals from City Council + Albany are at best unnecessary and at worst will exacerbate the already hostile attitudes toward free speech.
Since Raise the Age passed, the number of young people arrested has decreased by ~70%, and youth crime is down across NY.
The law works: it keeps more young people out of the mass incarceration machine and makes us all safer. Any rollbacks would be disastrous for young people and NY communities.
This is an important step towards building a more compassionate, health-led response for people experiencing mental health challenges in Rochester.
No one should die at the hands of the police because they have a disability, struggle with their mental health, or have used drugs.
This is a disturbing decision from NYU Langone.
Gender-affirming care helps people live as their authentic selves and can be lifesaving. As the Trump administration continues to punish already-vulnerable people simply for being themselves, we will fight to uphold the rights of trans New Yorkers.
The Trump administration is arguing that federal courts can't step in to stop unconstitutional immigration detention.
If that were true, Mohsen could have been detained for ten months on a charge that the government couldn't even substantiate before an immigration judge.
NY law already protects people from intimidation, interference, violence or threatening behavior when entering or leaving a house of worship.
Any additional laws are at best unnecessary and at worst will add to the already hostile attitudes toward free speech now polluting our national dialogue.
Operation Metro Surge is over, but federal agents will remain and many communities are still experiencing abuse across the country.
Alongside @aclumn.bsky.social, we'll keep working to demand an end to this anti-immigrant rampage and accountability for the harms inflicted upon all our communities.
ICE is moving forward with its plan to convert an abandoned warehouse located in Chester, NY into a detention facility.
New Yorkers have seen the appalling, inhumane conditions of ICE's mass detention camps and their response couldn't be more clear: ICE and its cruelty have no place in New York.
Graphic with a solid black background. Text in green and pale yellow reads "Not a dollar more for ICE". The NYCLU logo in green is in the bottom left corner.
This is a critical week in the fight to rein in ICE and Border Patrol's lawless operations as Congress continues to fight over ICE's budget.
With Senator Schumer leading those negotiations, and with only days to go until Friday's deadline, we must demand he keep up the fight.
If you're on the streets filming ICE, remember: Keep the focus on the ICE agents themselves where possible because it makes it more likely that you'll capture footage of any visible badges or other potentially identifying features. Keep recording for as long as possible.

βοΈ@dlnyclu.bsky.social: Under Mayor Adams, the NYPD ramped up arrests for minor offenses, increased pedestrian and vehicle stops + searches, and police misconduct surged.
Mamdaniβs election shows NYers are eager for a new approach. The mayor and commissioner should come together to deliver on it.
Standing up, fighting back with my friend @advocate.nyc.gov in Foley Square.
ICE out of NYC - NOW.
In 2023, NYPD officers pulled our client, Justin, out of his car frisked him, and despite finding nothing illegal, arrested him.
The NYPDβs targeting of Black + Latinx drivers with baseless vehicle searches is nothing more than stop-and-frisk on wheels, and it must come to an end.
Far too many Black and Latino drivers in New York City are treated like criminals when their vehicles are searched during what should be routine traffic stops, merely because of the color of their skin.
It must come to an end. More in @nytimes.com:
BREAKING: Along with the NAACP New York State Conference, the Bronx Defenders, and Milbank LLP, we are suing the NYPD for disproportionately targeting Black and Latino drivers with unconstitutional vehicle searches.
This essentially amounts to stop-and-frisk on wheels, and it must come to an end.
Statewide, there's still more to be done to protect immigrants from ICE in NY.
The New York for All Act, which has languished in Albany for years, would prohibit state and local officers from enforcing federal immigration laws and sharing sensitive information with ICE.

"I know that speaking up is essential to prevent people from ending up in a state of screaming fear."
In her own words, RΓΌmeysa ΓztΓΌrk writes about her hopes that one day, no one will have to scream like she did when she was unlawfully arrested by ICE, or endure ICE's horrific detention conditions.
The people have spoken: We refuse to tolerate ICEβs lawless attacks on our communities.
ICE out, now, for good.
Itβs no surprise to hear the government reiterate what has always been its ultimate goal: to impose the extreme punishment of deportation on Mahmoud for his pro-Palestinian speech.
But let's be clear: Mahmoud cannot be legally detained or deported now because his appeals process has not concluded.
ICE is snatching our neighbors and loved ones off the street, spreading terror in our communities. Now they want to set up a large-scale detention center in the Hudson Valley to expedite the Trump admin's deportation agenda.
People don't belong in warehouses. ICE's cruelty has no place in New York.
Yes - you have the right to film ICE agents, as long as you don't interfere with their law enforcement activities.
Documenting ICE's actions can add a layer of accountability and shine a light on violent tactics, as well as help us advocate to abolish harmful policies.
