Concept Artwork for Digimon Story Time Stranger's Central Town. Most regions of the Digital World Iliad were made closer to nature ruled by fantasical gods. Central Town was one major exception as the region on Iliad that is the closest to the Human World.

The strange thing is that the anime staff never wanted that. It was mostly pressure from the company and managed by a producer who seemed unaware of certain things. The writers, directors and others were mostly disconnected from it and all the pressure did was motivate them to stop making Adventure.

Ultimately, we know those inconsistencies existed and the reason why they existed, has been publicly been recognized by the staff for quite a few years already, but there are still a lot of nuances that I think can make the whole subject even harder to study.

And then you have the other stuff with Ryo, which came from Adventure's world and appeared in Tamers with no reason with a whole family of his own, which we know was done by the staff being completely unaware of the idea that it was supposed to be the same character and clashed with their plans.

And in Brave Tamer it's introduced the existence of various parallel Digital Worlds managed by ENIAC and ABC tying the creation of the Digital World with the creation of computers, which was not the intent with Digimon Adventure, which had a much more metaphysical existence.

Others are setting inconsistencies with background lore. For example, in the Digimon Analyzer for these games Apocalymon is said to have been brought forth by Millenniumon, while the original anime setting was for Apocalymon to have been created alongside the world as one of its various ideas.

Others are elements making no sense. For example, Ken was known by Taichi and the other OG children in the games and Taichi and Agumon were right there when Ken got infected with the Dark Seeds, and yet they act as if they never saw Ken or have no idea why he was acting strange.

At the same time in the anime Ken gets his Digivice from a computer alongside his brother and goes to the Digital World, while in the games Ken finds about Digimon with Ryo and they go there together with a D-3 tied to V-mon, while the D-3 in the anime is Ken's creation shaping his original Digivice

I comment on a few of them here (digitalworldarchive.wordpress.com/2024/12/28/t...), but there are various depending on the subject.
For story events, in Our War Game we have Ryo watching the Diablomon fight on a mountainous region on Turkey, while in the games he was watchin with Ken on his room.

Maybe I'm too much disconnected from the fans, but this is actually a surprise to read. I never actually saw the general fanbase talking about mistakes from these games, in fact I often feel most are completely unaware of these things. Maybe a lot has changed since my break.

Whatever happens, I would prefer this process being documented and shared officially. Even if they chose something I dislike, I would like it more if they were at least open about the choices. There are works I dislike more like Kizuna and The Beginning due to that (20/20)

So, this is my question. If Ryo and his stories were to be addressed nowadays, how would you prefer that to happen? Would you like something that fixed the inconsistencies? If so, which way? Or maybe you don't even care about that and just wants to see more of him (19/20)

And even if those ports were made, I wonder how many fans would discover the inconsistencies while playing it (Maybe wouldn't even notice?). Could there be a chance of people being disappointed that the games weren't exactly what had been idealized after so many years? (18/20)

When Habu spoke about ports being suggested and mentioned "it's connected to anime and novels" as a reason, I wonder how much is known from what happened back in the day. The research was an on-going process, so I wonder if opinions would change if they followed this idea (17/20)

I discussed about Witchelny staff comments in the post and I think the Ryo games also seem to be in a similar position that even those working on Digimon don't understand them in detail. Maybe not much would change even with remakes because information is limited (16/20)

Digimon used using all of those depending on the project, but no long-term decisions that were kept for much time have been made. I also wonder if there could be some "perfect version". It has been so long and has so many nuances I doubt any single person knows it all (15/20)

Another alternative would be changing everything. First you make a comprehensive story that includes major details from all versions, but doesn't keep a single work as "unchanged", and instead tries to make a general consistent version and change everything to fit with it (14/20)

This reminds me of how in Transformers, Unicron's backstory in the cartoon and comics were completely different, but the backstory form the comics became more used than the one from the anime. Of course, as you can read here, the inconsistencies were also a problem (13/20)

With the Ryo games, it's a bit surprising to me, but I often see more comments preferring to have the content from the games to matter and be definitive than the anime, which I think is quite unusual from general examples, but I can see why some could prefer it that way (12/20)

The biggest question here would be which work you would chose to be "kept". For example, in some discussions about Dragon Ball Super and Daima, I have seen some prefer making Super's consistency the priority and to change Daima to fit with it instead of the reverse (11/20)

One recent example of this is the Peacemaker series that originated as part of the past DCEU, but now its second season is set in the new DCU, so although most of the past season carryover to it, some changes in a few places are needed to fit with the new continuity (10/20)

Here the situation is more complicated because there aren't just two sides, Not only multiple works with him exist, but even works in the same genre aren't consistent with each other. So there a lot of remaking could be needed if a single work is chosen to be unchanged (9/20)

Another alternative is "one-side adjustment". Here you pick one side to be kept as is, and then change the other to make it consistent. Like, if you had the chance of remaking one of these works, you would make changes to make it consistent with the other not being remade (8/20)

An alternative is just to use him as usual and not address past baggage just like Digimon Tamers. Naturally this eventually can bring more inconsistencies for those who look for the details, but these projects just hope it doesn't matter for the general audience (7/20)

In my post about the Digital World, I spoke about how Digimon lore made so little sense that to properly unify it as some wanted, some choices had to be made that would change some lore so it could fit together. But there are many alternatives for these, so what to chose? (6/20)

Even when talking about it on Twitter, the staff wondered if the producer didn't remember Tamers' lore while making such statement, or that maybe she never knew it to begin with. And of course, the more you look at the projects related to Ryo, the less sense they make (5/20)

Ryo's situation was so bad that the anime staff knew very little about him, even in cases like Digimon Tamers. He was used there due to a request, but the staff was caught out of guard when the producer claimed it was the same Ryo from Adventure as it didn't make sense (4/20)

Making a long story short, although those games were advertised as being very important to Digimon, and this is how most fans see them, the more you look at them in detail you notice the inconsistencies, caused by none of this being planned, lack of communication, and more (3/20)

I feel that the Ryo games aren't understood in detail due to them being hard to find, even now some still think of them as more important to Digimon in general than they actually were. In a way, this also made me notice those games have quite an unusual reception (2/20)
