Kia ora, my appreciation to the people working on the measles outbreak, taking action to contain it and to prevent future ones. I think strong messaging is an important part of that, so yes personally I would pitched a Measles Immunisation Month at least 💉🗓️ 😅 we all want an outbreak free 2026 💛

So uh rather than just say: we have community spread of measles, get vaccinated, they’ve created a ‘week’ like, you know, the ‘language week’s we have 🤦‍♀️ fingers crossed this outbreak blows over in a week🤞

Finally with the latest escalation of the measles outbreak in Auckland, I’ve gotten my ‘I really should do that’ MMR because my childhood vaccination is uncertain (had at least one but not sure if two)… if you’re the same and born 1969 and after you can too for free at many pharmacies 💉

Oof it can be SO desperate… I have come to enjoy a lot of solo parenting moments but there is no getting around the logistical and psychological horror when this happens 😭 may this be your whanau’s dose for a long while…

Also one extra patient per shift seems… not very impressive?My GP sees 25-30 in a day so that’s a pretty marginal gain imo… not to mention without assessment of reliability clinical notes, referral letters, and follow-up summaries created = unknown downstream impact. Sigh.

I said no at a White Cross recently to ai notetaking and the Doctor stopped and stared at me and did a long pause and I thought oh no what conversation am I going to have here and then she smiled and said ‘fair enough… we’re required to ask… it doesn’t even save me time’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh my smart watch changed my life just for timers alone… in this case I THOUGHT I set a timer but apparently either I didn’t do it correctly or I, uh, got distracted and thought I did the thing not actually did the thing 🤦‍♀️

Neurodivergent af, really, that sensory overwhelm keeps me wanting baths and then attention issues, hyperfixation and time blindness mean I keep forgetting I’m running a bath 🫠

Decided that rather than put in a whole bunch of effort finding out if I ever had a measles vaccine, I’d just get it done. Easy peasy at the pharmacy, and fully funded too! If you have any doubts about your immunity at all, this is a great time to get yourself sorted.

I'm of the age where we only got 1 dose of measles vaccine at school. Last outbreak we had I went and got much delayed booster. Do consider doing the same if you only had one shot as kid.
