Nobody is asking you or forcing you to do that. Other events with lots of people occur without danger, however, so the cops and the government bleating about public safety is a non-issue

The modern Labor Party hates protests and he's lying when he says he respects the right to protest. Between him, Palascuk and Andrews/Allen, they're always banging on about the risks and inconvenience.

Modern democracy is messy and sometimes you wear it on the commute.

Someone tell Minns to dig up. There was no public safety issue over and above a large crowd. Sydney craps on about crowd sizes at events like football, Vivid and NYE and it's never presented as a problem.

Add a cause – and in this case a worthy one – and suddenly it's all doom and gloom.

It's actually the tyres. They're quite capable machines but the drivers aren't and don't understand knobbly tyres on slick tarmac aren't very good. Once the grip goes from underneath them, the wheel goes super light and you're completely disconnected. Suck it, losers.

Pretty sure when they close the Harbour Bridge for the Sydney Marathon every year there aren't any riot police.

Doesn't cross the bridge. I think it's closed for the marathon though.

Labor Premiers sending out riot police to deal with peaceful protestors need to have a long hard look at how the labour movement earned its place in mainstream politics.

Sure, I can see what you’re saying and why you’re offended. As an Australian we don’t mean that term to mean South American countries but rather the type of state. I don’t know if the British take as broad a view as we do.

Like I say, I’m inferring meaning and can’t guarantee it but having followed him for a while. I can’t speak for him or scold you because your experience is obviously quite different to mine.
