Bringing these two results together.

Labour and Reform are splitting the fascist vote and letting the Greens in!

This opens up a lot more possibilities if the Green Party is bold enough.

Which is why they need @zackpolanski.bsky.social leading...

Labour won’t defend migration.

Too scared of Reform, too terrified to lead.

While they play dog whistle politics, inequality is the real problem.

Not small boats. But private jets.

Full credit to Zack here for unambiguously supporting and defending migration and pushing back against Reform. It shouldn’t be noteworthy when a politician does this, and it’s incredibly alarming and depressing that it is.

Phillipson: Teachers cannot insist on gender-neutral Mx title Bridget Phillipson also said she β€˜can’t put a timescale’ on when long-awaited guidance for schools on gender-questioning children will be published.

Labour are cowards. Yes, non-binary teachers have the right to be called by their preferred title.

It's called respect. It's not difficult.

This is about hounding non-binary people out of teaching.

This week I was looking for info on what cognitive scientists mean when they speak of β€˜domain-general’ cognition. I was curious, because the nuances are relevant for something I am researching at the moment. To my surprise and dismay, I hit upon this ScienceDirect page that β€˜defined’ the concept as follows:

I thought, Huh?! This is definitely not how we β€” cognitive scientists β€” use that term. Then I saw the last sentence, β€œAI-generated definition”, and I realised what went wrong. This was AI slop. Not only that. It was AI slop on ScienceDirect, a β€œpremier platform for scientific, health and technical literature” (emphasis in original).

So Elsevier / ScienceDirect is now actively and intentionally including machine-generated pseudoscience on its pages next to the work of academics

There's a REALLY quick and easy survey for the public consultation on the Basic Income for the Arts scheme - it only takes a few seconds, anyone can fill it in, and it could make a huge difference to arts workers in Ireland. Take a few ticks to places a few ticks here: ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/run...

And of course that includes former Tory Ministers turned Reform.

We must hold them to account.

Despite all the guff, they're united on this issue.

I don't get the reticence. I understand FFG aren't particularly keen on social spending but they recognise we need to transition and no-one will complain about spending on warm homes, transport and cheaper energy. (Except shady lobbyists)

We are dealing with a decades-long legacy of poor building standards, cold homes, and a transport system built around cars.

Turning this around is not going to be cheap, butΒ  it's probably one of the best investments we can make into the future.

To be a humanist isn't to be stubborn and dug-in about what you do or don't believe is true. Go with the evidence.

When you find out you are wrong about something you believed true, take the approach of an experimental scientist and not that of a debate team. See it not as failure, but learning.

Landlords are parasites.

They extract money from their tenants for something that is a basic human right - a place to live.

Allowing local councils to implement rent controls would take away their power.
