Republicans want a study committee on gas prices, but you don't need a study to know that President Trump is the problem. House Democrats called out tone-deaf MAGA talking points because Arizonans are feeling real pain at the pumps.

Happy International Women’s Day! Today we celebrate true warriors fighting for an Arizona We Can Afford.

From greedy data centers to Republicans putting corporations over hardworking Arizonans, these women fight back with poise and passion, occasionally paired with sass and sarcasm.

β€œMoney is tight. Gas prices are going up, 50 bucks means a lot, and if you can recuperate 50 bucks by shutting down two or three subscriptions you don't need, why wouldn't we give that to people?"

PHOENIX – Representative Junelle Cavero commended school staff and students in her district for their quick actions today that resulted in two students being detained by Phoenix Police for bringing a firearm onto campus. A student at Sunland STEAM Academy, a K-8 school in the Roosevelt School District in South Phoenix, tipped off school officials. No one was threatened or harmed as the school was placed on a temporary lockdown and the weapon confiscated, according to a district statement.

"Our community is exceptionally grateful to the student who saw something and bravely said something. That helped avoid a potentially dangerous situation," Cavero said. "The quick reaction by staff and Phoenix Police, and the care shown for students and staff who needed additional support afterwards, should also be commended."

Local opinion: The Legislature is mimicking Congress – and not in a good way We’re in the middle of the Arizona state legislative session in Phoenix, and the resemblances to Congress in Washington, D.C., are becoming undeniable.

β€œI lost count of the partisan, non-binding resolutions that we voted on last week…Meanwhile, issues like child care β€” a major cost of living concern for Arizona families β€” receive zero time on the calendar.” β€” op-ed by Rep. Kevin Volk.

A Republican bill to continue DES contains previously vetoed policies to kick tens of thousands of struggling Arizonans off SNAP food assistance & AHCCCS healthcare. Rep. Cesar Aguilar moved to strip these hostage provisions. But β€” shocker! β€” Republicans chose politics over an Arizona we can afford.

HB4009 goes down 29-25

Good morning! We just stopped a bad bill to map out state lands to be consumed by water and electricity-hogging data centers. Republicans rejected @LorenaAustin4Az’s amendment to inform residents of how much energy and water nearby data centers are using and how much it’s increasing your costs.

On a positive note, we just killed a bad bill sponsored by β€œconservative” Republican Matt Gress that would needlessly expand government with a new agency to make services for the unhoused more complicated and harder to access.

We’re going all night. The House has been voting since 6:30 pm (after debating since 10:30 am). A little while ago Republicans added another 75 bills to the third read agenda so just 156 more to go! None of these are Democratic bill, btw, and a good chunk were vetoed last session.

Rep. Lorena Austin’s amendment to HB4009 would have informed residents on how much water and energy data centers near them use, and how much it will increase their costs. Anti-transparency and anti-affordability Republicans of course voted no.
