1. The insurance industry: Some property and casualty (P&C) companies may not survive this financially, which could send shockwaves through the sector.

Fast forward to now, and we’re looking at the “Palisades Fires” (technically five separate wildfires) with estimated damages ranging from $150 billion to $200 billion — and the fires are still burning.

The 2018 Camp Fire in California was a devastating wildfire that caused about $12.5 billion in damages. At the time, it set the record.
