I get this, but here's where I'm at:

Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hates—first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of color—& I'm gonna root for them.

If I were the social media manager of a police department that was found to have routinely violated the civil rights of the community it serves, and also had to pay out $200K for a sexual harassment lawsuit a mere month ago, I would simply not post things like this.

But that's just me!

Seeing Zohran instantly getting a bunch of shit done in like a week makes you realize that politicians could always do that on some level if they wanted it bad enough and very few of them actually do.

As someone who likes to get worked up, take a beat, calm down...and then tell everyone else to hush and calm down, too...I really appreciated this column from @eric-crawford.bsky.social today.

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. Yes, Finland had solved the homelessness problem. But then, a bunch of right wing politicians gained power and decided that they don’t want that kind of wellbeing anymore, it doesn’t fit to their idea of society.

I love that the morally and ethically correct approach to most issues is so so SO many times also the economically correct one and STILL we actively go "no we aint gonna do that" for no reason accept distaste for those less fortunate than us
