Hmm perhaps I didn't explain well, but I wouldn't characterize it as blind acceptance. More along the lines of "oh, hey, these teachings seem pretty good" aka like the Beatitudes & such & trying to embody them. Looking out for the poor, children, immigrants, the elderly, etc. Loving your neighbor

I'm so sorry for the late response! Basically, it means I try to follow the words of Christ (what used to be printed in red ink in some translations). I think there's a lot of good in that, not so much in the mess of organized religion, especially in the way some weaponize it.

Something I loved from the 1st book was retained here: timelines & travel are realistic. All that requires work & study & the passage of time are given the proper due aka crossing a continent on foot & horseback takes weeks & months, & training is completed over years #BookSky #BookReview #ARC

I'm devastated for Atheatis & the characters I have grown to love. But glimmers of hope remain
& the pieces are all set for a wild stunning conclusion.
I am incredibly grateful for this ARC opportunity from the author as I give my candid thoughts

The moral superiority complex of Maya just didn't fit well at all w/ her actions & she was not a strong FMC. I get the idea behind the story of exploring morality, but it just wasn't executed well & left me feeling kind of ick

2.75/5 โญ The beginning really set this up to be a great book but the plot started going off the rails & ended up just being a confusing mess. I really wanted to like this & kept hoping it would get better. I'm still not entirely sure what happened

However, the storytelling truly had me immersed and it is impressive how Rutherford tells 1000 years of history and makes it feel real and alive.

I most enjoyed the beginning of the book. I wish some more time had been spent on the Vikings coming to Ireland in the middle and less time spent on English sympathizers towards the end.

4.5/5โญ I picked this up before going to Ireland & am so glad I did. It lent a breadth & scope to a portion of my trip that would have lacked otherwise. You can tell the author highly respects the history of the area & people he writes about

Completely unintentionally, I've read two fantasy books tied to the goddess Hekate, & finished on her day. While I understand Nov16 is a date associated w/ her in more modern times, it is intriguing to me. I also unexpectedly adopted a dog, a symbol of hers. Something is telling me to pay attention.
