this is about to be lost to the wind because it's more convenient to push a narrative of "sonic sucks and the people who work on sonic hate each other, grrrrrr" and have people just instantly eat that up because it's more interesting than the actual truth.

a lot of the online community loathes him these days lol. especially on the twitter and youtube side of things.

i say "rarely" because Yuji Naka is an asshole but a lot of that is largely for reasons beyond Sonic. his treatment of Naoto Oshima just completely sours me.

these kinds of horror stories are why i rarely blame any particular person for everything wrong with Sonic. it sounds like an incredibly stressful series to work on and its a miracle that we even get good projects out of it with how ridiculous SEGA management often is.

Stealth under the same breath as the Iizuka statement also stated he's expecting articles only focusing on him calling Origins a "joke" and ignoring the entire point of his argument because VG journalists only seem to focus on the people behind Sonic saying Sonic sucks. it sounds fucking exhausting.

the fact the "Sonic Team is jealous of Mania" rumor was strong enough that when Superstars came out and was a mixed bag, a particularly big journalist was quick to turn that into an excuse to reignite the rumor to the point he dismissed one of the Mania developers as a Sonic fanboy still sours me

i posed this as a question as a joke because i know this isn't going to end this but i guarantee you that their current boogeyman, Ian Flynn, would corroborate this if he could. he kinda has in the past, even. (Prime not following his notes, Superstars not really using his own plot, etc.)

iizuka nearly got fired for asking upper management to delay Frontiers from 2021 to 2022. that's how much they just. genuinely do not care. the system sucks and does not care about any of the people who actually make these games.

surely stealth's pleas to sonic fans about how takashi iizuka cares about the franchise means they'll finally stop pinning the blame with everything wrong with sonic on a specific face instead of the corporate system that only cares about projects getting finished and the charts for them, right?
