Today is day one of Women in Horror Month. The first book I'll recommend is Sadie Hartmann's Feral and Hysterical: Mother Horror’s Ultimate Reading Guide to Dark and Disturbing Fiction by Women. It's 208 insightful pages of female horror writers, divided by subgenre.

I'm always saying this.

If a fetish is just what makes a person experience arousal/attraction, then practically everything you've ever read or watched involved the creator's "fetish". Fetishistic attraction is not automatically morally different from normative modes of attraction.

I used to feel the same way, and I still generally wish they pushed the style more, but filters and mods helped a lot, and the bosses capture Amano's final fantasy style fairly well, but coming from WoW were everything is so toony and saturated, FF16 as an MMO took awhile to adjust to.
