Yesterday was a beautiful autumn day. Wouldn't mind if all of autumn was like that. Alas, it's grey, cold and foggy 80% of times...

Someone asked me for directions in French. I answered, and after they said thank you, I replied "Bienvenue". That's not how French works, brain xD

It's the case reset button.
When I plug it in, it seems to continuously force reset the system.
I have no clue why it doesn't do that on the old mainboard. Maybe that one has a feature to ignore the button if it's pressed when power is turned on?

Put in yet another different type of RAM. It posted. Installed SSD and GPU. It stopped posting. Removed SSD and GPU. It still doesn't post.

Did update the BIOS, didn't help. The Corsair RAM never worked, even though we tried 4 different sticks. Some cheap Patriot RAM worked. Will now try with some Kingston.

What are the odds that both sticks are DOA? Also we got the RAM replaced, and it didn't work with the replacement (but still same type) either.

Tried different type of RAM, and suddenly it posts.
It appears that for whatever reason that particular RAM wasn't compatible with the CPU, even though CPU, mainboard and RAM manufacturers all say everything was compatible.

Got a replacement CPU and mainboard, still the same issue.
Switched to a different mainboard, got another replacement CPU as well as RAM.
We no longer get a CPU error LED!
Now we get a DRAM error LED.
(No, it's not memory training. It turns off again after about 5s)

It's getting colder and darker. Really craving some warmth and affection.

Feeling like there's a lot of emotions/feelings/anxiety piled up and I don't know what to do with it.

If you really wanna startle them, there's plenty of other things you could hang :P

A bit more than 11 years ago, my fellow recruits and I placed a coin behind the emblem on our beret, for the last beer on our last day of service.
Today I'm having said beer.
It's been a mixed bag of experiences, but I'm glad I've made them.

449 days served. One to go.

Second to last day of army service. Not much to do. Taking in some of the scenery.

So this year I stopped running after everything and am letting my comerades do their thing. I'm still trying to give some hints on what could be done. Yet noone seems to care, causing everything to fall apart and everyone to be even less motivated. What a shame.

Lieutenant: "The air conditioning unit is leaking!"
Me: *takes a look* "That's just condensation water."
Lieutenant: "I see. Do we need to refill that?"
...
"Absolutely. You should tell logistics to ship some to our location."

Lieutenant Colonel approached a buddy and me and made some remark about our uniform not being up to code for this exercise.
"Sir, we'll both be gone in five days. We believe our uniform will work just fine until then."
He left xD

Company commander wasn't happy with how we defended the position, so we did it again. This time we made sure to place ourselves on an elevated position, so we had an open field of 300m that we could defend with our pistols.

It's wet. They're making us do combat drills. The lieutenant was not impressed by my combat umbrella. I bet he's just jealous.

Off to military service for one last week...

My most frequent answer whenever someone asked me something during this service has been "Go ask XYZ". 😂

You know you're sharing a room with truck drivers when they're still up listening to folk music while everyone else is trying to sleep.

Once again I have to do a Lieutenant's job, because they're inept.
There goes my plan of having a chill last few weeks of service 🙃
