Unfortunately, they were too busy turning football clubs into businesses that they forgot to consider if they should.....

....oh, and none of the football authorities did anything other than stand by and let it happen.

We delude ourselves that we don't follow a "business" as a coping mechanism.

Like grains of sand on a beach. Might not be outright corruption, recency bias, stress, pressure based on the money involved, the players & fans or the atmosphere. Add it all together with crap like VAR & all it takes are officials who are not the best equipped to deal with all this & s##t happens.

A win from a good performance rather than a bad luck but it was a good performance will just be the tonic to ease the stress for a few days.
