When I was 18, I made a little game that somehow spread across my entire hometown. I recall random people I had never seen before going "that was you!?" when someone told them I had made it. A tiny glimpse into what fame felt like.

Indeed. As long as it doesn't go beyond teasing, it can be helpful and something to look back on as funny, despite stinging at the time. When it's outright cruel, it can be traumatizing for life.
