Recovering from a medical procedure yesterday took all my energy, but this morning I was feeling good enough to start another birthday cake, this one for my beautiful fiancee! Here's today's steps. Tomorrow we make frosting, ganache, and decorate.

Interior layer is a bullseye of a raspberry frosting dam, filled in with concentric rings of raspberry jam and lemon curd.

As assembled as it will get until being served, when I'll add a circle of fresh lemon slice twists and a pile of fresh raspberries in the center.

Today I spent a bit of time processing my layoff emotions, and then spent some time doing something I love for someone I really like.
