I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

It occurs to me that all my cosplays this season are centered around 'giving people an interaction' because it gives me an out for my own perfectionism.
'It doesn't matter if it's perfect bc whats actually important is having enough there for the interaction to be enjoyable'

the horrible thing in my brain: but what if all the small things feel bad in accumulation. what if you spend the whole event stressing about people thinking it's sloppy-looking.

so my worbla is lumpy. oh well!! it's not on a very visible section of the prop! move on!

so my table trim isn't even bc I'm bad at measuring/didn't plan ahead. So what!

I really gotta internalize that the satisfaction of having a Done Thing will compensate for the imperfections

key lessons me to keep in mind for this crafting season:
- stop comparing
- stop seeking perfection
- lean into the fun of just Making Things
