In ~2019 I chaperoned a high school lock-in where we watched The Matrix. The movie was 20 years old and, hilariously, the kids hadn't heard of it. When it was over they couldn't stop taking about how awesome it was.
That's right kids, when I was your age we had real cinema!

I would have been 15 or 16 when I first saw it. I remember requiring a few viewings before I fully understood. It's a dense mythology. Like, the opening scene with Trinity demands a ton of context before all the action makes sense

Something we don't talk about enough is that, because data scientists are at the intersection of stats/comp sci/business (or pick your Venn diagram), we often end up being the conduit for coordinating all those corporate functions

I did graduate studies in California and it took me a solid year to adjust to the culture of breaking in before someone was finished speaking. Still not sure if that was a west coast thing or just the quirks of the demographic I was around

Clean look and feel, approachable (so: business friendly), forward-slash shortcuts to useful tools, Good Enoughβ’οΈ templates, arbitrary page nesting, typed table columns, to-dos that email you reminders, reusable Loop components that stay synced across apps. It's a step closer to e.g. Confluence

Teams used to annoy me to death with Loop stuff, so I assumed Loop was Very Useless. then someone recommended I try the Loop desktop app and the flow was way more enjoyable than the other available products I was faffing around with

For all my corporate drones out there, if you don't have access to a good documentation tool and have been using OneNote for project docs--see if you have access to Microsoft Loop. It's not a perfect tool by any means, but a big step up for collaboration and making documentation bearable

Ah sorry, should have clarified it's just a Teams chat with people at my local Chicago office at work.
HOWEVER... let's brainstorm something more fun!

A 3-d pie chart, but one wedge is a piece of deep dish pizza being lifted out of the pie
I am well known for my antipathy toward the pie chart. But when AI came up with this logo for a Chicago-area data chat, I caved.

Sometimes I'll define a lil %btw% at the top of my script if I want a custom way to check whether a numeric value falls in a range. So e.g.
3 %btw% c(0, 5)
Can also control whether I want strict inequality this way

Some of us crusty curmudgeons at $DAYJOB were just reminiscing about the old days of data science when the worst you had to worry about was some MNAR data or a new hire running OLS on a binary outcome.
Simpler times.
