Government passes retrospective law codifying debt for beneficiaries The Government has passed a controversial law that will codify more than $63 million in debt owed by beneficiaries with ACC claims.

What the fucking fuck??
They voted down and amendment that would excluded victims of abuse in state care.
They are Tory scum

The Atlas Network has form: it is credited with influencing the election of autocraticand ultra-conservative leaders in Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands and, recently, New Zealand. Will Australia be next?

Here’s a scary read linking Atlas, Christian dominionism (related to Christian nationalism) and conservative politics.
Now more safeguards have been removed, more journalists should be investigating the potential influence of Atlas on New Zealand’s 2026 election.

Cars back on Queen St - act now or go back to the bad old days 😀

Auckland Transport is quietly bringing back cars to Queen St. Here's why they aren't acting in good faith and what to do about it.

City Rail Link’s $3.4 million marketing and PR bill questioned Despite the millions spent on β€œcommunication”, the one thing Aucklanders remain none the wiser on is... when the CRL will actually open.

Why is spending a few million on advertising a $5.5b investment that is due to open this year a controversy...

...but spending ten times that on designing mega-roads that'll never get built is *never* questioned? πŸ€”

Studied 8,000+ comments/replies on Facebook, & Twitter, ranging from Sky News Australia to NZ MSM, & far-right accounts specifically dealing with Ardern's ostensible move to live in Sydney. Past 48hrs have seen surge of hate/harms anchored to news reports. #nzpol

To Dr @legallyfeminist.bsky.social's point, study of the comments based on Prof @susanbenesch.bsky.social's dangerous speech framework www.dangerousspeech.org/dangerous-sp... highlights very clearly near impossibility of the former PM to reside in her own country. The risks/threats are unmanageable.

Luxon reminds me of executives who force you to do things you know won’t work and they never take that advice and eventually things fail and they throw their team under the bus and they get moved from org to org and then eventually getting pushed out and they do the same thing at the next company.

The reason why we can afford to put homeless people in prison but not housing is because if you house them the homeless person benefits but if you put them in prison we can funnel public funds to a private prison corporation. It’s always about funneling public funds to the wealthy. Always.

Cutting housing, benefits, fining homeless, funding more prisons & tax breaks for landlords

Luxon's Prosperity Theology is by design

Financial blessings & well-being are the will of God for faithful Christians

Poverty & illness a result of a lack of faith & generational sin

Poverty is our fault!

Aww wellington Facebook. Where a council is still majority pakeha or men but they'll still look for the one wahine Maori and blame and abuse her for anything that went wrong.

It's all caused by Tamatha and cycle lanes.

But when it's good, it's the sparkly men.

Hostile corporate takeover of the USA.
This is why NZ needs to vote very carefully.
We genuinely need to vote pro- community and anti- global corporates.

Which means we need to vote Green. If the β€œmood of the boardroom” says turn right - we turn left. Boardrooms are fucking killing us all.

Midtown Trial: Who wants to ruin Queen St? - Greater Auckland Earlier this week, I detailed how But the Mayor, while important, is only one person, and seemed to care a lot more about Wellesley Street than Queen Street, with AT seemingly bringing up the AVO. So ...

Who wants more traffic on Queen St? (Almost) nobody!

"Let’s be clear: this isn’t about urbanists and advocates vs. hard-nosed business people.

Look at how buildings are being marketed in Midtown. The key selling points: access to public transport, and walkability (which equals high foot-traffic)."

β€œRooted in racism” Hostility and disinformation overshadow Moa Point public meeting More than 300 people packed into a public meeting on Monday night to demand answers over the ongoing Moa Point wastewater disaster.

As per usual, a loud and feral minority hijacking the conversation with misinformation.

Also seeing a disturbing & very familiar pattern of hostility toward Tamatha Paul. Our community must stand behind her. We can’t allow another Māori leader to be worn down and pushed out. #nzpol
