We did a trip on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT today, from Kennedy to Mount Dennis. Overall it seemed good - fast even outside, and modern. I kind of enjoyed the bilingual announcements. Some other thoughts 🧡

Toronto makes things. It’s important to engage with business operators to understand their needs as we plan, long term, for the city.

Playing with elevation data in #Blender. This is the #Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) boundary which includes all of the watersheds that converge in Toronto. Going to try draping some orthophotos and land cover data over this. Other ideas?

How neighbourhood retail stores could change Toronto
YouTube video by CBC News Toronto How neighbourhood retail stores could change Toronto

Happy new year!
Great video about permissions for small retail in residential areas in Toronto. Features Contra Coffee which opened on a contra-flow bike lane, historic references & future changes to come. And features my dissertation supervisor from way back in my uni days!

We know Toronto is growing. As we grow, we need new public facilities and services, so that affordable housing, libraries, childcare, community and cultural spaces and public art options are available and easily accessible.

Shawn Micallef: This truck ad shows why Toronto needs smaller vehicles β€” if only the carmakers wanted to sell them A car comically overloaded with plywood? It’s a good ad for a pickup β€” but also a sign of the incredible amount of money, weight and energy being wasted on

Let’s talk about the size of trucks & SUVs in the city. My column on the virtue & status signalling of vehicle bloat.
