ALSO we stumbled into their city hall after 8pm one night and no one seemed to be working there but it was open to visitors and they had a Pride flag display. And, for various reasons, that just seems unworkable and unwise a lot of other places.

I think it’s also been managed well because they’ve built underground car parks beneath the centre, so it’s still relatively easy to drive up to the city centre, but then you get to walk/cycle around in peace’

In my opinion, one of Europe’s (relatively) hidden gems is Ljubljana. In large part, because its city centre has been car free since 2007.

And it followed the usual path. People hated the idea and protested it when it was proposed and now wouldn’t go back to how it was beforehand.
