Last weekend, the City’s Deer Management Program returned for the 2025-2026 season, with archery expanding to 10 city parks. The program works to humanely reduce white-tailed deer populations, which have grown out of balance with Pittsburgh’s forest ecology. 🦌 🏹 Learn more: buff.ly/8CHuv4a

A new traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Bayard and North Neville!

The signal includes:
✅ Pedestrian countdowns and audible pushbuttons
✅ Dark-skies compliant lighting
✅ Leading Pedestrian Intervals
✅ Updated signage
✅ Pavement markings to calm traffic

Construction is expected to begin TODAY, September 10th, and last two days. There will be intermittent closures of Shady Avenue between Fifth and Hastings during construction.

Fire at Pittsburgh apartment 'under control' after hours long fight in Squirrel Hill Fire crews are lined along Forward Avenue battling flames at an apartment complex in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood.

My office is closely following today's apartment fire in Squirrel Hill. I'm grateful that no one was injured and thankful to our first responders for their quick & courageous work.

Pittsburgh moving forward with plan to put automated red light cameras at some intersections If approved, the company would install the cameras at six intersections, and add six more each year, ending with a total of 30 intersections.

"'It’s really about saving lives. About Vision Zero, avoiding serious injury and death because of traffic collisions in the city,' Strassburger said."

The District 8 office will be closed Monday, September 1st, in observance of Labor Day.
