I’m proud of the work we have done and continue to do. I’m Trying not to hate the name change, but most of us came here for the mission.
Most labs are named after places because they could not or didn’t want to announce their mission. We always got to be proud of ours. I hope we still can be. πŸ”ŒπŸ’‘

it's a fair question, can the RE build rate be sustained at a level that steadily outpaces demand growth and/or supply slippage

but also keep in mind that holding back hydro production in daytime is indirectly a form of energy storage.

Global grid-scale BESS deployment up by 38% year-on-year through October Global grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) deployments have hit 156 GWh year-to-date. Over 153 GWh are still slated for commissioning in 2025, though delays and cancellations are likely to trim that total by year-end.

The reason we have laws* against bribery is that companies will absolutely bribe politicians at the very first opportunity if it is good for the bottom line, because they see it as a sound business decision, not a civilizational betrayal.

Yes, because the thing about girls is that they don't stay girls for very long. Which makes them disposable. And which means that men like Epstein need a huge supply.

A chart from sustainableviews.com showing that 2025 marks first year without fossil power growth despite rising demand.

This version of the @ember-energy.org data annual electricity data, from @sustainableviews.bsky.social, is quite good.

I am not going to get overly excited about a single data point.

But the trend is certainly encouraging.

China's fossil generation fell 0.7% in the last twelve months (Q4 2024-Q3 2025). compared to the previous twelve-month period.

India’s fossil generation declined by 2.5% in the twelve months to Q3 2025.

Why?

Mainly surging solar, wind & batteries.

Trump is now claiming "affordability" issue that caused epic GOP losses is a "con." Repubs aren't allowed to contradict the despot, so that's become GOP gospel. Meanwhile MAGA coalition is fracturing.

Wood Mackenzie confirms new natural gas generation is expensive!

$126/MWh in 2030!

New solar plus batteries are less than half the cost of new gas!

New nuclear ($139/MWh) also is getting close to being cheaper than new gas!

Gas too is dirty, biggest CO2 electricity polluter. #energysky
