made a order of one thing from DigiKey ($18 worth of FPC connectors because I didn't order enough last time) and they shipped it in a padded envelope instead of a box. I'm very used to the DigiKey "box crammed with packing paper" so the envelope was nice to see

It is unfortunately the sort of show that is helped by having a cool fat guy next to you who can explain what's happening (much like Xenoblade 2, probably Eva, etc). An extra episode somewhere in there and another pass through the editing cycle would have made it even better.

It's a very Xenoblade story (and apparently season 2 is even more so): airships, mysterious machines, political intrigue, stuff that happens without explanation, and characters named Alvis and Claus. (I'd be surprised if Takahashi *wasn't* influenced by Last Exile)

Finished Last Exile (2003) yesterday, with my friend who discovered it over the summer. It's really good, with good art and this wild CGI that looks like prerendered cutscenes from a PS2 game.

according to japanese.stackexchange.com/a/66541, the use of な with nouns (and な-adjectives) in a situation like キモい男なんだ, the な is kind of acting as a marker to indicate that the の in のだ (んだ) is not a possessive の, but rather the explanatory のだ.

two revelations last night (from research)
- nominalization is just applying a relative clause to one of the nominalizer nouns: 歩くの is "の" (generic noun) being qualified by "歩く" to become "the thing that is the action of walking"
- なんだ at the end of a sentence is just な (attributive だ) + んだ

call me a hater but I like when my technology mostly doesn't advertise itself to me. I do think we can totally combine cool aesthetics (atomic purple, water splashes and fruit, etc) with modern innovations if we really want to

everybody's like "oh frutiger aero/2000s aesthetic is so cool" but they're forgetting the part where technology stuff was named eLearning™ and Mega(R) SuperWireless™ Q-21000 and had blindingly bright blue LEDs and would cook your nuts to infertility if you dared a laptop on top of your lap

looking forward to the next couple years before this place too becomes lifeless. luckily, shitposting and acting like an idiot are free.
