So far, only one political leader is prepared to mount an outspoken defence of the BBC As part of its editorial independence, the appointment of the BBC's next editor-in-chief is meant to be entirely down to its own independent board - and out of the hands of ministers.

I stand by the BBC - it's bound to make errors once in a while. It should apologise and we should move on, knowing we possess a treasure!

The family farm tax was flawed from the start, hurting real farmers while letting big investors off the hook.

In this Autumn Budget, the government must not turn a blind eye and should scrap this damaging and counterproductive tax.

1/4 Today I met Network Rail staff at #Bramley station. Local people have raised a number of issues with me including traffic delays at peak times and rail disruption. There aren't easy fixes.
