The groundhog of politics has seen his shadow.
Paxton and Cornyn will be stuck in run-off hell while Talarico smoothly transitions into the general.
You couldn't ask for a better situation to finally turn Texas blue (knock on wood).

Seems like it should be a major story that the Trump administration said it wasn't prepared for airspace closures after starting a war. Seems indicative of the absolutely half-assed way they approached this war. Seems like the kind of thing a Democratic administration would get pilloried over.

once again struck by the extent to which the damage in Trump's first term was - though extensive - limited by significant portions of his administration working extremely hard to contain his worst impulses
and how much the second term is the exact polar opposite of that

Lowering training requirements is not the answer for teachers being underpaid in their first few years of the career.
There are already alternative routes to certification, and you really don't want people who don't know either the content or pedagogy to be in front of kids.
I worked at Target throughout high school and part of college. "Can I help you find anything?" is my shibboleth. The fact that they lost even people like me is such a massive self-own. Target will need to burn down its C-suite and salt the earth it stood on before I even consider going back.

Warnings to citizens to evacuate 3 days into this war, when airspace is closed, is a clear sign of ZERO strategy and planning by the Trump admin.
Now Americans have limited options to evacuate at an extremely dangerous moment with no government assistance. This admin is failing its citizens.

In the top of our story, we talk about the rally you attended in Managua and a wire report at the time said that there were anti-American chants from the crowd. The United States at that time - I don't know how much you know about this β was actively supporting the Contras to overthrow the government. So that there's anti-American sentiment? I remember that, I remember that event very clearly. You do recall hearing those chants? I think the wire report has them saying, "Here, there, everywhere, the Yankee will die." hey were fighting against American -- Huh huh--yes, what is your point? I wanted to ββ Are you shocked to learn that there was anti-American sentiment? My point was I wanted to know if you had heard that. I don't remember, no. Of course there was anti-American sentiment there. This was a war being funded by the United States against the people of Nicaragua. People were being killed in that war. Do you think if you had heard that directly, you would have stayed at the rally? I think Sydney, with all due respect, you don't understand a word that I'm saying.

As bad as this site is, I'd trust our government to function 1000x better if the people here were running it, rather than the people who currently are.
And that's even taking into account all the times we'd end up distracted by the latest round of Stancil, TCW, or Alf hog discourse!
This generally tends to be more of a feature of men's fan bases. The USWNT fan base, as a contrast, is substantially more even-keeled and positive.

Honestly, the experience made me dislike most pro-soccer fandom. I just don't have the patience to listen to amateurs who think they can fairly criticize pros who are light-years beyond them in terms of ability
Sunday soccer league is *nothing* like MLS, let alone Champions League or the WC
They absolutely *destroyed* us. Cut us up like melted butter.
I remember defending goal and watching the ball bounce from foot to foot, literally never touching the ground, until it found its way to the back of our net.
It was so embarrassing, we just had to laugh. We had no chance, whatsoever.
10 years ago I was in an adult soccer league. My team was good. We won our division multiple times
During an off season we played former college soccer players: guys who *maybe* thought about going to the USL or UPSL but never got picked up...
