Great news, everyone! Looks like Ireland is making their Basic Income for Artists program permanent! This is after a recent public consultation that showed 97% support for the program.

Then they'll wear ropes around their necks instead of crucifixes.

True, I didn't specify. If taxing were universal, too, though, fewer naysayers would complain about the universality of the income. Heck, make even the babies and old people pay taxes, for all I care. Just do the UBI. Right? Make the tax automatic! A withholding tax. There: UBI + Universal Tax.

One complaint I get a lot is why give money to those who don't pay taxes. Your post made me think, what about Universal Income Floor, so that everyone has to pay taxes? Calculate the UIF, such that the net equals the tax-free UBI. Maybe?

Many describe just that, a form of Economic Darwinism.

UBI's most important contribution, in my opinion, is the way it reverses the relationship of citizens needing government to survive. Proper taxation would become paramount for government survival, and citizen success, the the only way to achieve it.

Stop defining time socially. It's a scientific question.
