Maybe a turtleneck?

Something solid colored and plain, or even maybe flannel could look good

I would go with black jeans and then make the pop of color the shirt that you wear under the jacket which you ideally leave open in the front

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

Yes! I figured out how when I disasseled the rear of the lens for the first time.

I did damage the front ring slightly trying to get the faceplate off, but that tiny bit of cosmetic damage is definitely worth having a lens that works at all and the knowledge I gained about lens repair and their function.

The fix was pretty involved and a little tedious but straightforward, and now it works perfectly! I'm super excited to get out and shoot with it, thanks for bearing with me as I learned DIY vintage lens repair :)

The logical choice would have been to return it to the eBay seller, but as a lover of vintage lenses repair is something I've been wanting to learn more, and I didn't want what was an otherwise fully functional lens in great shape to possibly end up in a landfill.

Once I made sure everything was aligned it was just a matter of reassembling the lens and cleaning the other pieces as I went, and now I have a fully functional 41yr/o Minolta AF 50mm F/1.4!

Step twelve is replacing the aperture diaphragm in the body of the lens, securing it with the metal band, and aligning the post with the mechanism the camera uses to adjust it.

Step eleven is removing the mounting plate, for real this time, so we can align the post on the aperture diaphragm with the mechanism the camera will use to adjust it.

Step ten, I've reassembled the now very clean and smoothly operating aperture diaphragm!

21.02.2026 00:45 β€” πŸ‘ 14    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

These things are nasty, as you can see from the state of my paper towel and q-tips. Also, the aperture blades themselves are super fragile, basically pieces of steel foil.

Step nine, finally, cleaning! After disassembling the aperture and each piece soak individually, I remove them one by one from the isopropyl alcohol bath and gently clean them, sometimes several times, with a q-tip.

Step eight, bath time :3

While I let them soak in isopropyl alcohol to break down the grease I'm going to clean up the inside of the lens with q-tip and some more isp to get rid of all of the bad grease and oil I can.
