The college football team thatβs barely played on Saturday
East Carolina went five consecutive weeks without playing on the sportβs traditional day, part of a growing strategy to increase television exposure.
When you think of college football, you think of Saturday, right?
Then there are teams like ECU, which played four of its first seven games on Thursday night.
"You donβt need a map and a compass to find our games on TV."

Jakob Chychrunβs life has changed a lot in the last two years. But the biggest changes have happened internally, as heβs learned to embrace who he is and let go of some of the all-consuming, obsessive routines that dominated his life.

Still, Jim, coaches are falling left and right. Will Michael Locksley be your coach in 2026?
βI would say this at any point in time, in any season β 7-0, 4-3,β Smith said. βYou have to look at the whole body of work and ask: βAre we going in the right direction? Do we believe we have the talent and are going in the right direction?β And I think that will determine itself here at the end of the year.β
Maryland Athletic Director Jim Smith spoke with
@barrysvrlugawp.bsky.social about Coach Michael Locksley and a changing college football landscape.

The Commandersβ offense is struggling, and they canβt run from it
Washington is stuck in neutral on the ground, stalling its efforts to establish an identity.
It may not be the primary reason they've lost 3 straight, but the #Commanders run game has gone cold -- and not just because they've been chasing games. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...

Unusual fact: Washington has won a road game in every current NFL city except one. Kansas City.
The #Commanders are 1-10 all-time against the Chiefs, including 0-5 on the road dating back to 1971.

To hang on to their season, the Commanders need to hang on to the ball
After Monday nightβs deflating loss, Washington players and coaches werenβt fumbling for answers on whatβs needed to get back on course.
It's not just that the Commanders committed three turnovers last night, but also that they didn't force any.
Dan Quinn on the minus-3 turnover margin: "You really donβt deserve to win many games when youβre in that space."
