He called me at work saying he was going to commit suicide. I left work and stayed the night with him at the hospital. The next day at work, they said I didnβt have enough time accrued to go to the hospital. I had to fight to get my time back to just zero so I wouldnβt get fired.β Michael Lebron Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1

The next day a doctor confirmed my foot was broken, but when I brought the doctorβs note to work, they said I was lying. A bill like this will hold them accountable. But then again, the accountability really has to be enforced. Because Amazon has enough money to continue to do what theyβre doing.β Anthonie Sparrow Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1

And now, in bad weather I have to take unpaid leave because it slows me down. This bill makes us feel like we have a voice, and hopeful that other people are thinking of us while these big corporations are crushing us down.β Joelle Jean Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1

I was injured and my wife was in a high-risk pregnancy. We struggled. For a lot of these workers, English is their second language, and their leave isnβt explained to them well. I think this bill will help a lot.β Wajdy Bzezi Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1
