Measles outbreaks are not normal.

Measles was eliminated in 2000 due to successful vaccination campaigns. Declining vaccination rates since have led to an increase in measles outbreaks. The good news is #measles is preventable with the MMR vaccine.

Today is a devastating reminder that infectious diseases donโ€™t care what your โ€˜beliefsโ€™ are. Everyone is likely to be affected directly or indirectly. Serious challenges require serious people at the helm. Protect your loved ones. Educate. Advocate. The cost of not doing so will be too much to bear.

Better than burial? Human composting is rising in popularity as a pollution-free life after death | CNN Human composting is and is emerging as an alternative to cremation and burial that is friendlier to the climate and the Earth.

as a #microbiologist, I am a big fan of #humancomposting for human #burial. The lower #carbonfootprint and #ashestoashes mentality makes it my preference for when I go.

Gender and retention patterns among U.S. faculty Women faculty are more likely to leave their jobs than men, most often due to workplace climate, rather than work-life balance.

Women leave academia at higher rates than men at every career stage, and attrition is especially high among three groups: tenured faculty, women in non-STEM fields, and women employed at less prestigious institutions, a #ScienceAdvances analysis finds.

I cannot stress this enough: if you have any physical contact with a batโ€”especially a biteโ€”get treatment immediately. If it gets into your central nervous system, you will die horribly.
