I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

people who do physical sports and stuff are always talking about how fun it is despite it being difficult and effortful. snowboarders are literally slamming into rocks and breaking their wrists and shit And being like man i love snowboarding. I think this is a good mentality for artists to have too

Then they have screenshotted tags left on their post by another user reading: "crying screaming and throwing up when you tell me the undertaker didn't REALLY die and come back to life all those times" sapphling follows that with "no that part was real"

What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

The hole in the ozone layer was actually very serious and a global effort allowed it to recover. Y2K WAS actually a serious problem and people worked countless hours to make sure nobody even noticed. Air and water pollution was catastrophic in many places and incredible effort reversed that damage.

An ad for the upcoming Trans/Queer Jam

As the Transhet Jam is wrapping up, I went ahead and put up a page for the Trans/Queer Jam!

This jam will take place May 1st to July 13th and will accept any comic, game, novel, etc that contains at least one trans character in a queer/homosexual romance or erotica story!
