When this breaks containment and people who don't know Luke start responding, well, this could be an all timer, folks.

Finally gotten around to reading We Had it Coming, the latest book from the great @lukeoneil47.bsky.social and I cannot recommend it enough. I was calling my girlfriend and reading her entire stories from the book that hit hard. I did that with the FIRST story! She may be annoyed with me about it.

What's fuckin further is that that they believe those failed wars didn't go far enough for the commands and sake of Jesus Christ, the risen Lord.

It's not yet 11:30, I can at least start another episode of Deadwood instead of fruitlessly imagining a stronger more loving world

good god the Chinese restaurant scene is responsible for some much of the comedic sensibility of the last 30 years

I chatted with Mary Jo and Kevin about our weird mad scientist characters on MST3K. Two conclusions: 1) we can’t remember shit 2) still, we do know we had such a great time that we can’t wait to give it another go!

With handy, user-friendly excerpts of the sketches we’re trying to remember.

"Personally, I find this strike to be an amoral and unethical murder of children, like our terrible early 21st century policies and also is a crime against humanity, but there is a hypothetical group of voters that will punish me if I don't support neverending war, so I guess I'll go with that."

Nirvanna is one of the finest films ever made, and you deserve to experience it with as many people as you can. So much more fun with more people.

The implication that there might be a good explanation is so laughable that you should look in a mirror and consider whether there is anything behind your eyes other than some sort of Elmer's glue based substance.

The bad guys were shooting back

It was mentioned upfront that this was a possibility but almost certainly unlikely to happen. Broaching it as more of a legal formality they said. Terms of service kind of thing. Like when you go on the phone I asked and they said yes. Just like that. Or rent a car for example. Few of us were old enough to do that but I still got the gist of it. In the vast majority of cases you will not be killed or torn to bloody ribbons they said. Twenty percent chance. Thirty tops. So I bet on myself and joined up. Also literally bet on myself on the prediction market. To not die to be clear. Some of the guys had bet the other way. Just in case. Now there was also that for me to worry about. Monetarily speaking. Not that I had all that much to wager in the first place. Besides the obvious.

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t George W. Bush may think that a war against Iraq is the solution to our problems, but the reality is, it will only serve to create far more.

Can think of nothing more cowardly than pressing a button to shoot a missile that will land dozens or hundreds of miles away. Little bottle of water next to your desk. "Yes sir" and all that shit. Walking around saluting each other. Fucking losers. Killers.

Two photos with captions from my special Positive Reinforcement.

1. I have a lot of hometown pride, but that's hard to show. Because it gets so aggressive when you're from around boston.

2. I have a red sox hat, and that's fine. But one notch above that gets too macho.

6. You're really only supposed to wear it when a Dropkick Murphy is born or dies.

new term β€œpost facto strike”, as in a strike you always wanted to do and find a justification for it after you’ve decided
