Printed copy of the Making a Buck Without Selling Out workbook. Riso-printed in black on off-white paper in block typography. The cover features the title, authorsβ names (Cristiana Bottigella and Sophia Kosmaoglou), and a section of text outlining the workbookβs aims. A scaffold and aerostat are integrated into the functional design. The workbook lies on a tabletop with printed materials, evoking the process of making and reflection at the heart of the course.
Poster design for an artist development course titled 'Making a Buck Without Selling Out'. Bold, handmade collage with turquoise torn paper textured background. Title in large, bold dark blue text on uneven cream torn-paper background, centred: 'hARTslane Presents: MAKING A BUCK WITHOUT SELLING OUT'. Below, smaller text in black reads: 'six week online course for visual artists who want to develop their professional practice on their own terms'. At the bottom, a black paper strip with orange text: β14 Jan 2025 β 18 Feb 2026, Wednesdays, 6:00β8:30pm. Right side features a black scaffold structure and a small red hot air balloon above it. Bottom right includes a hand-drawn building labelled 'hARTslane'. Wildflowers and vines climb up the edges.
We've wrapped up Making a Buck Without Selling Out! Six weeks of conversation, reflection & collective strategy, plus 1-to-1 tutorials. So proud of the workbook - a practical tool for navigating tensions & planning next steps.
Next edition: 14 Jan - 18 Feb 2026, Wed 6-8:30pm

A poster reading "Build a wall of resistanceβdon't talk to ICE" with a drawing showing a line of houses slamming their doors at the approach of a man who can be identified as a heartless and despicable mercenary by the letters "I.C.E." emblazoned on his jacket.
I shall die, but that is all that I shall do for Death;
I am not on his payroll.
I will not tell him the whereabouts of my friends
nor of my enemies either.
I will not map him the route to any manβs door.
Am I a spy in the land of the living,
that I should deliver men to Death?
-St. Vincent Millay
Disabled people have unnecessarily died in their 1000s because of cruel and dehumanising process of welfare assessment and the pittance given if you are deemed disabled 'enough'. The UKs recent decision to cut disability payments will only cause more death and suffering.

artists support each other when systems will not. there's little safety net. it is resilience. artists are not your competitors. artists are your peers, mentors, and the ones who will defend the ability to create sustainably.
to those who struggle to continue drawing,
you are an artist.

π part one core reason why I left my job in UK HE and moved to Iceland to be part of LungA School. It was no secret that even in the 'creative' courses, industry was infiltrating subjects and demanding specified training to prepare students to be 'competitive' aquisitons for their company.
